The project “ACTIVE PATHS” aims at the recovery and execution of naturalistic / cultural routes, represented as a link between the territories of the four regions (Lazio, Marche, Umbria and Abruzzo) which were impacted by the earthquake. This project was designed in order to favor a new tourist promotion program and revitalize the local economy – the new “ACTIVE VILLAGES”.

The municipalities that participate in the project will offer special areas called “Active Villages” to provide hospitality infrastructure (food, lodging, and activities) for traveling tourists.

The project areas will be based on the historic Horse Exchange Posts (Poste di Cambio Cavalli) and built using eco-friendly wooden structures to comply with the new anti-seismic regulations.

In addition, the buildings will be used to introduce advanced heating and cooling technologies while respecting the parameters of energy efficiency and sustainable architecture.

The infrastructure will ensure access for persons with disabilities.

The tourist accommodation facilities will be Bungalow-style. They will include horse stables, sport facilities, local sales of typical and sports products, a large clubhouse used as a restaurant/bar for guests, and outdoor recreational areas.

A parking area will also be available. Various parking types will be studied and positioned in a design plan, with the aim to create a courtyard for social gathering.

The goal is to connect the two projects: The “Active Village” with the “Active Paths.”

A potential design idea consists of a fan-shaped building whose arrays start from an individual fulcrum in the central body of the clubhouse. These would be positioned near the access road with parking and service areas on the sides – each with separate access. The clubhouse will face the internal courtyard – near the outdoor recreation area where the paths will begin – in a radial pattern with access to the Bungalows.

The positioning of the Bungalows is modular and designed for their eventual expansion according to demands and the surface area of land available.

The entire project, comprising of a design centered around the use of both urban and green spaces, must be approved by the Municipal Administration.

The potential activities to be provided by the Association Terra di Amatrice Onlus will undergo a rigorous feasibility study, including a cost and benefit analysis, before it is proposed to various municipal administrations. Their support will lead to appropriate strategies and bureaucratic tools to carry out the selected activities.
